He is the author, co-author and co-editor of 22 books; and the author or co-author of over 120 articles or chapters in peer-reviewed journals and university presses.

Dr. Brendan O’Leary, Ph.D. is both an Irish and American citizen and since 2003 has been the Lauder Professor of Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the author, co-author and co-editor of 22 books and 120 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. O’Leary was born in Cork, Ireland, sent his childhood in Nigeria and Sudan and his teenage years in Northern Ireland. He attended St. MacNiss’s College, Garron Tower, Kelbe College Oxford and the London School of Economics where Dr. O’Leary was awarded his Ph.D.
Dr. O’Leary was a political advisor to the British Labour Shadow Cabinet in Northern Ireland between 1987-88 and then again in 1996-97. He advised Irish, British and American ministers and officials during the Northern Irish Peace Process.
He is a renowned Constitutional Advisor to numerous worldwide governments.
